Hyderabad International

Well what’s so great about living in Hyderabad? Well if a recent survey by a leading publication is to be believed, Hyderabad has the highest quality of living among all cities in India. That is saying a lot considering how many cities there are in India and how many of us live in a city which we believe to be the best in the country.

Hyderabad it turns out is counted among the best for various reasons all of which I won’t go into, but a particular reason is the large number of high quality international schools in the city. Parents Real estate in India it seems can’t get enough of great schools, whereas the previous generation was educated at English medium schools the current generation of school children shall be the products of international schools. The previous generation struggled hard preparing during their high school years for various entrance exams, the new generation it seems would prefer to gain admission directly to Oxford or Stanford.

So what has changed? Many things it would seem, for one parents have and are willing to spend much more money on their children’s education than was possible in the past. Parents who have children in international high schools have themselves traveled abroad frequently and may have realized that a college degree from a Harvard or Stanford tops a degree even from an IIT and are willing to spend more money to give their child and edge and the best possible start in life.
Such upward mobility was unthinkable among previous generations, in the past only those from the richest families ever had the opportunity to travel abroad and very few ever went overseas for an undergraduate degree. Today going abroad for a bachelor’s degree is quite common with many young people from even middle class families opting for such degrees.

Many families who have children in international schools live in Hyderabad, such families have the means to provide much more to than simply a great education to their children. These families also live amongst arguably the best property in Hyderabad, what is new is not that such a trend exists but rather the magnitude of the trend. There are now literally more numbers of such households than there have ever been in the past, they expect only the best and have the wherewithal to pay for the same.

The large number of such wealthy families who live in the city has caused the price of apartments in Hyderabad to skyrocket over the past 10 years; the children from such families not only go to the best schools but also live in the swankiest homes. Parents of such families are eager to provide their children with all of the luxuries they were themselves denied as children, in return for such luxury all that is expected from their children is that they score well and gain admission into the best colleges in the world.

The less wealthy would it seem have to reconcile to educate their children at what are now gradually perceived to be the less prestigious Indian schools and colleges.
